Vegetarian Fish and Chips
Ingredients
- 2 packs halloumi
- 125g plain flour
- 1⁄4 tsp white pepper
- 1⁄4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 125ml warm milk and water
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Method
- Sieve the dry ingredients into a bowl
- Make a well in the centre, and add the liquid. Mix into a stiff batter
- Cut the halloumi into four pieces each. Triangles are clearly the best shape for this
- Coat the halloumi with batter, and fry, two pieces at a time
Serve with a wedge of lemon, chips and mushy peas
